DESCRIPTION: Designed in the 1960s and constructed in the 1970s, the Barbican Centre was opened on 3 March 1982. Designed by architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon, construction work started in 1971. Europe’s largest multi-arts and conference venue lies at the heart of the 35 acre residential Barbican Estate.
