IMAGES OF BUILDINGS

Images of Buildings is an online Gallery of 100 architectural photographs of modern and post modern buildings, that symbolise what is great, quirky and unusual about buildings in Britain.

The motivation for developing Images of Buildings is to showcase some well known, as well as some less appreciated architectural splendours of British towns and cities. It enabled people who wanted to be involved with Architecture Week 2005 to see some stunning images of buildings from any location, providing an internet connection is available.

Work on Images of Buildings started in March 2005 and was completed on 5th June. The Gallery contains information about the buildings, as well as hosting a way for visitors to feedback what they like or dislike about the buildings and the images of them.

Images of Buildings is an Architecture Week 2005 event. Although Architecture Week is now over, this website is still available online until work begins, later in the year, for next year's event.

"This site grounds you. Its not about style or surface over good design - its about the guts of buildings which have stood the test of time and are beautiful in their different stages of decay.

I love the fact that Christopher Preece has just gone and done this over several years - not been commissioned by anyone, just been driven by his own passion. Buildings fascinate me and there are so many here which have stories to tell. Its like some architectural novel without any words. Go and take a look."
